We live in the age of neural networks, quantum mechanics and participatory realities. Old school spirituality and religion have lost much of their usefulness in guiding us towards a fulfilling and meaningful life. The old ways of thinking, believing and behaving now mostly uphold stale structures inadequate for what we are facing in this new century.
It’s a bit like 500 years ago when the dissatisfaction with the idea that the earth was the center of it all led to a new understanding of our place in the cosmos. If I’m not mistaken then the widely felt unease with life in the information age, the digitalized life bordering on what will soon come to replace much of what we know with Artificial Intelligence, is the surface of a deep longing for the really Real for a human being.
In due time you’ll find all kinds of material on this site that explores an OPEN SPIRITUALITY. A spirituality that is developing as I go along, a spirituality that finds truths by exploring day to day experience, our deeper thinking and feeling, and the challenging data that come to us from the sciences. Also we will take a close look at mystic experiences that some of us have – or would like to have.
All of this is often related and illustrated by personal reports of forays into these dimensions, my own and of others. Some of these may not be new experiences at all, just like the earth didn’t change its orbit when we discovered that the sun to be our local center of revolutions. But our understanding did change very much, and by letting go the old school thinking of our place in the universe as no longer relevant to our new era we can usher in a whole new way to do and be. It is my fervent hope that an Open Spirituality could do the same for us all.
